On Sunday, January 19th 2025—on the eve of MLK day and the US inauguration—members of the Weaving Earth facilitation team created a virtual offering in support of our collective care and well-being. The day-long event highlighted practices from the ATTUNE program, including ecological awareness, bird language, embodiment, radical astrology, and prophetic practice. This seminar is a prayer to behold the ecological remystification of power as essential to informing our wise action as caretakers on this planet and to provide anchoring and support in the face of the fear and uncertainty that many of us are feeling.

We believe that the teachings and practices within, although tethered to a moment in time, remain relevant and supportive, so we decided to make them perennially available via download. We hope these recordings will continue to support our community.

MORE ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Evoking and reclaiming the historical link between the auspicious and inauguration, this offerings supports us to bring our curiosity towards seats of power that draw their responsibility from the prophetic attention (brontë velez) that emerges from ecological wisdom. How has power historically been mystified, imagined, and rooted in ecology? How can we attune to those ancestral practices? How must power be re-ecologized, remystified, and reimagined to sustain livability on this planet?

The intention of this daylong experience is to widen our perspective – expanding beyond the human narrative, so that we may then return to it with more care and resource. Not to diminish our human relationships or bypass the importance of “staying with the trouble” (Donna Haraway) but to invite our more-than-human allies to support us and allow ourselves to be supported by them. How does that widening influence our social and ecological care? What happens to our co-liberation work when we reclaim it as ecological? We trust that when we have access to pattern recognition and our ancestral lifeways, we are able to collaborate with place and spirit to instigate miraculous care in our respective bioregions for our human and more-than-human relatives.

These recordings are offered on a sliding scale from $0-$100. In a time of uncertainty, we pray that it offers anchoring and support.

Any money raised through this offering will be put toward Weaving Earth’s ATTUNE program, which seeks to regenerate the wisdom of intuition alongside the development of tangible skills for living in and responding to the climate emergency. (More on the Attune Program below.)

Regarding the sliding scale: Please choose based on what is possible and joyful for you to give while also taking equity into consideration (we encourage those who come from privileged identities, wealth privilege, or have access to wealth to consider giving in accordance).

MORE ABOUT ATTUNE

The ATTUNE program seeks to regenerate the wisdom of intuition alongside the development of tangible skills for living in and responding to the climate emergency. Guided by the reclamation of the lineage of auspices (whose etymology is bird-seer), we are interested in strengthening the prophetic muscles of curiosity and the remystification of our disaster preparedness. Here are some of the core inquiries we are exploring through ATTUNE:

~ what happens to our neural pathways, our molecules, our ways of relating, our organizing, our carework, the places we live, when we offer our attention to the patterns of the earth and attune to what is emerging?

~ what happens to our social and ecological systems with that renewed attention to the earth’s languages?

~ how are we preparing to take care of each other in the weather of our times?

~ how does strengthening our muscles for awe and pattern recognition support our disaster preparedness?

~ how are we shaped as we reclaim our attention and offer it to the interconnected aliveness of the planet?

~ how does loving, compassionate presence change the quality of our mutual aid and wise action in such times of need?

MEET THE FACILITATORS

brontë velez

Program Director

(they/elle) brontë’s work and rest is guided by the cosmology and promise of sabbath for black people and the land. as a black-latine transdisciplinary artist, trickster, educator, jíbare and wakeworker, their eco-social art praxis lives at the intersections of black feminist placemaking, abolitionist theologies, environmental regeneration, death doulaship, and the levity of absurdity.

Lauren D. Hage

Executive Director

(she/her) Lauren is the ED, co-founder, and a facilitator at Weaving Earth. As an ecological designer and educator, she has dedicated 20+ years to supporting people to shape their actions from a foundation rooted in interrelationship. She is also a certified facilitator of the somatics-based body of work called The Resilience Toolkit. Her work and play are an expression of her prayer for eco-social co-liberation.

Naike Swai

Program Facilitator

(they/them) Naike is a queer and trans healing arts practitioner, sonic trance facilitator and astrologer of Tanzanian and German heritage. Their interest in studying the vibratory imprint of nature’s forces on our mind and body led them into the practice of classical acupuncture, sound healing and astrology.

Will Scott

Program Director

(he/him) Will’s passion resides at the intersections of ecological health, human development, social justice, and community resilience. He has committed himself to a focus of healing the division between humans and the more-than-human world, and to exploring how we can re-member and revitalize our relationships to self, others, and earth as a response to the crises we face.

tayla shanaye

Program Facilitator

(she/they) tayla (she/they) is a biculturally Black living body engaged in somatic decolonial Black feminist scholarship, education and counseling. tayla has a master’s in somatic counseling psychology and a doctorate in women’s spirituality from the California Institute of Integral Studies.

Dave Hage

Communications Director

(he/him) Dave brings his love of the natural world and his care for humanity into this work, with a particular fire for drawing out each of our unique, creative expressions. He is grateful for the privilege to be in a process of co-liberation alongside participants and guides, and he remains a humble student to this collective effort.

Jiordi Rosales

Program Facilitator

(he/him) jiordi is fluent in nonsense and loves the interspecies gossip of rural communities. Attentive to birds, patterns and forms of learning that most permit joy, humor, mystery, and contradiction, Jiordi’s life work orbits crafting pedagogies for crumbling futures. He is a prescribed fire practitioner, forest technician, writer, cellist, and designer of stringed instruments.
